Adapting to Climate Change in the Agricultural Sector Webinar
Presenters will share leading practices, innovations and lessons learned based on RAC projects underway that are informing adaptation decisions related to water planning and management. The webinar will explore questions including "What is unique about considering climate change adaptation in water-related decisions?", "What approaches, tools and lessons learned could be transferred to other locations?", and "Based on your results to date, were there any surprises, or unexpected outcomes that could inform planning of adaptation measures in other regions?"
Presentations will include "Tools to manage irrigation and model agricultural water demand" by the British Columbian Ministry of Agriculture, “Understanding vulnerabilities and adaptation options to manage climate impacts in grassland ecosystems” by Jeff Thorpe of the Saskatchewan Research Council, and "Adaptation to drought and floods in Manitoba’s agriculture sector" by Tony Szumigalski of Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives, and Randall Shymko of Manitoba Conservation.
