Peace Corps Response (PCR) sends experienced professionals around the world to undertake high-impact service assignments. Volunteers provide targeted assistance in diverse assignments while helping the agency meet host country requests for highly skilled Volunteers. Peace Corps’ international partnersare interested in collaborating with Environmental Education and Climate Adaptation Specialists familiar with capacity building and program delivery.

Peace Corps governmental and non-governmental partner organizations in Eswatini, Malawi, Peru, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Tonga have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Environmental Education and Climate Change Adaption Specialists. Peace Corps partner organizations have identified needs for additional support to develop and advance best practices in environmental education and climate change adaptation.

Responsibilities:

Peace Corps governmental and non-governmental partner organizations in Eswatini, Malawi, Peru, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Tonga have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Environmental Education and Climate Change Adaption Specialists. Peace Corps partner organizations have identified needs for additional support to develop and advance best practices in environmental education and climate change adaptation.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field related to environmental conservation studies.
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in environmental conservation and/or climate change adaptation related field.
  • At least two years of international development experience which may include research, study, volunteer work, or project implementation.
  • Medical and legal clearance are required for service as a Peace Corps Response Volunteer.

Start Date: Between July and September 2024

Peace Corps Response Volunteer Benefits and Conditions of Service:

  • Transportation to and from their country of service;
  • Settling-in and living allowance
  • Two vacation days per month
  • Medical Care
  • PCRVs receive a re-adjustment allowance of $500 for each month of service.
  • *Peace Corps Volunteers who complete 12 months or more of service within a 24 month period are eligible for the Coverdell Fellows Program and earn non-competitive eligibility for jobs with the Peace Corps domestically. (For the UP coordinator outreach)
