Payment: $6,000 stipend (bi-weekly), 40hrs/wk. Travel stipends will be issued for travel and lodging.

College of Menominee Nation (CMN) is part of the consortium leading the USGS Midwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (MW CASC). The MW CASC provides opportunities for research to support adaptation decision-making, training related to climate science, researcher-stakeholder networking, and community engagement.

CMN’s Sustainable Development Institute (SDI) is currently seeking applications for a (one year) MW CASC Tribal Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program for four students interested in working in tribal climate adaptation for natural resources in the Midwestern US. Applications are due May 21, 2023. See details below. Undergraduate students who are interested in working with stakeholders or tribes to create actionable science are particularly encouraged to apply.

Menihkanaehekem is a tribal-led non-profit organization dedicated to community engagement and community work. Proposed projects for MW CASC student interns include Indigenous agriculture, youth initiative, and assisting with the Buffalo project. The intern will assist in various Menihkanaehekem operations. Duties will include bookkeeping, cataloging, youth mentorship, research, networking, travel, and staff meeting attendance.
