Urban & Coastal Resiliency Planning Intern - ARCADIS
Location: Tallahassee, FL
The Water Business Line of Arcadis is seeking a candidate to join our world-class firm in Tallahassee, FL. This internship will be for the Spring Semester 2018 with the potential to be extended. The intern will support our Urban and Coastal Resiliency Planning Group and will primarily focus on hazard mitigation and urban resiliency planning.
Working with Professional Engineers, the Interns will perform assignments designed to utilize and develop professional skills and knowledge significant in the field. The Intern will work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously and will need to possess strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual, ready to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment and can jump in with a short learning curve.
We need someone with excellent research and writing skills, as well as good technical skills. If your favorite classes were plan implementation, multiple alternatives evaluation, growth management, and other technical or policy based courses, this internship is probably right up your alley!
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Safe growth analysis
- Hazard mitigation planning for communities and critical infrastructure
- Grant writing & management
- Research regarding climate change and sea level rise, as well as funding opportunities
- Regular work with Excel and GIS, and some HAZUS
- Work independently and sometimes with limited direction
- Other duties as assigned
