The California Wildlife Foundation invites applications for a Climate Change Associate. Under the direction of the Climate Change Advisor and Special Advisor, the Climate Change Associate will be responsible for identification, development, dissemination, and implementation of policies and processes for both adaptation to and mitigation of climate change effects. Qualified candidates will have the ability to collect environmental data; analyze and evaluate data and reach sound conclusions; review, check, and interpret scientific and environmental reports; analyze situations and take appropriate actions; establish and maintain cooperative relations and effective communications with local governments and all persons contacted; prepare clear, complete, and technically accurate reports; and apply rules, regulations, policies, and requirements of State and Federal environmental protection and resource management programs.
Required Qualifications for this position include: (3) three years of increasingly responsible professional experience as a scientist in environmental analysis, research, management, planning, regulation, or investigation, two years of which include one of the following:
- Responsibility in the development or implementation of environmental policies, programs, plans, or research projects.
- Conducting an environmental monitoring and surveillance or environmental management program.
- Direction of the work of a multi-disciplined environmental investigatory or regulatory staff.
Possession of a M.S. in a biological, chemical, physical, or environmental science, or a closely related scientific discipline may be substituted for (1) one year of the required general experience. Possession of a Ph.D. in one of the above-named disciplines may be substituted for (2) two years of the general experience.
Compensation range for this position is $5,445-6,575/month. Benefits for this position include medical, dental, and vision and a 401(k) plan with company match after 500 hours of service.
