Community-Based Adaptation to Climate Change
In our two most popular online courses, OL 101 and 102, students actually develop real projects within communities. We began observing that almost 50% of these projects were working to solve problems potentially linked to climate change.
We decided to recast these two courses into OL 341 and 342 where you will still develop projects on the ground, but projects that focus on a community-based approach to adapting to climate change.
New resources have been added that include links to specialized adaptation sites, practical articles on identifying climate change challenges, and information on adaptation techniques. Course leaders will provide a focus on adaptation in these specialized courses.
OL 343 and 344 are the next step where you will begin looking in greater detail at the special challenges presented by your adaptation project in an effort to refine your project's activities. Then you will build sustainability and impact into your project by fully engaging the community in the process. In 344, you will learn how to launch, manage and hand-over a project whose impact may not be measured in years, but in decades.

Online course participants are using our courses to develop real, on-the-ground projects with real communities individually and through cross-hemisphere student partnerships. People from 70 different countries have used these courses to develop projects since January.
