Organization Overview:
ISET's work focuses on understanding social and environmental change processes, including climate change and urbanization, and supporting adaptive responses to the fundamental challenges such processes pose for society and marginalized populations. Our work brings together basic theoretical and scientific information from research on complex systems and agents with social engagement, local knowledge, and shared learning to catalyze both practical changes at the local level and the growth of applied knowledge. ISET’s current projects cover the following themes:
- Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change
- Strategic Approaches to Water Resources Management
- Urban/Peri-Urban Systems
- Disaster Risk Management
Mission/Vision Statement
The Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET) catalyzes transformative changes to a more resilient and equitable future. Through research, training and implementation activities, we improve understanding and elevate the level of dialogue and practice as society responds to natural resource, environmental and social challenges. We serve as a framework for equal collaboration among individuals and organizations in the North and South.
