Home of the Blue Devils, Duke University has about 13,000 undergraduate and graduate students and a world-class faculty helping to expand the frontiers of knowledge. The university has a strong commitment to applying knowledge in service to society, both near its North Carolina campus and around the world.

Sustainable Duke - Duke University seeks to attain and maintain a place of leadership in all that we do. This includes leadership in environmental stewardship and sustainability on campus, in our medical institutions, and in the larger community of which we are a part.

Climate Action Plan

Duke has developed a Climate Action Plan (CAP) that will guide the University in achieving climate neutrality by 2024. This plan was developed in large part by Duke's Campus Sustainability Committee, which was formed in 2007.

Sustainability Strategic Plan Progress Report

Duke is developing a Sustainability Strategic Plan as an extension of the Climate Action Plan to focus on a broader spectrum of areas within campus sustainability. The Sustainability Strategic Plan addresses sustainability topics including water conservation, recycling, and land management. The Sustainability Strategic Plan Progress Report outlines the goals, progress and areas of future focus for four key areas: Emissions & Carbon Offsets, Infrastructure, Campus Operations, and Education & Engagement.
