International Centre for Environmental Management
ICEM is an independent public interest centre that helps governments, private sector and communities define and implement policies for ecologically sustainable development. ICEM works through partnerships drawing strength from collaboration with governments, NGOs and technical institutions. ICEM acts as a catalyst and facilitator in promoting collaboration around shared goals and projects.
We provide technical advisory services on:
- climate change
- biodiversity conservation
- water resources, energy
- integrated assessments
At ICEM our vision is to ensure ecologically sustainable development, which is development that improves the total quality of life, both now and in the future, in a way that maintains the ecological processes on which life depends.
The Asia Pacific region is likely to experience significant impacts from climate change, affecting infrastructure planning, energy supply, food security, water supply, sanitation, ecological sustainability, and community resilience. ICEM is established as an international leader in climate change impact assessment, adaptation and mitigation planning. Advanced climate, hydrological, hydrodynamic and integrated assessment modelling, GIS analysis and economic valuation tools have been specifically designed and proven in the region as part of our climate change adaptation and mitigation methodology. ICEM’s Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Methodology (CAM): Our CAM – Climate change adaptation and mitigation methodology was developed specifically for the Asia-Pacific region and has been extensively tested in ICEM projects. CAM has been used for USAID, ADB, World Bank, bilateral and government climate change projects and for national, sector, river basin and infrastructure specific assessments.
