Mercy Corps

Overview
Since 1979,we have helped people grappling with the toughest hardships survive — and then thrive. That’s the heart of our approach: we help communities turn crisis into opportunity.
Who We Help: Idealistic youth. Courageous mothers. Determined entrepreneurs. Hardscrabble farmers. Survivors of disaster or war. They live in tiny remote villages and in the slums of the world's biggest cities. We're there for them, listening to their needs, helping any way we can.
Where We Help: Failing states. Conflict zones. Countries recovering from natural disaster. We work in places where a child's life is often at risk, where a woman's education is usually ignored, and where a family's livelihood is never a sure thing.
What We Do: We listen to locals and prioritize their most urgent needs. We fix market gaps to drive economic recovery. We bring groups together to negotiate conflict and strengthen civic participation. We think big, start small and take responsible risks to find solutions that benefit the greatest number of people. Some of the areas we work with are agriculture, climate change, disaster risk reduction, environmental stewardship, food security, urban innovations, and water among many others.
