New York City Mayor’s Office of Resiliency
Overview
Our Vision
The Mayor’s Office of Climate Resiliency (MOCR) strives to adapt New York City to the unprecedented challenge of climate change, creating a more resilient, equitable and vibrant city for the New Yorkers of today and generations to come.
Our Mission
Through science-based analysis, policy and program development, and capacity building, MOCR leads the City’s efforts to ensure that New York City is ready to withstand and emerge stronger from the multiple impacts of climate change in the near- and long term.
Core Functions
- Science-Based Analysis: MOCR identifies, translates and applies the best-available climate science and analysis to develop its policies, programs, capital projects, and public engagements.
- Policy and Program Development: MOCR develops innovative policy and programmatic solutions to address New York City’s existing resiliency needs and to advance a strategic vision for a more resilient, equitable, and vibrant future.
- Capacity Building: MOCR creates tools, leads collaboration across sectors, and builds capacity to enable public agencies, businesses, community organizations, and New Yorkers alike to take climate-smart adaptation measures.
MOCR's adaptation work includes participation in OneNYC's "A Livable Climate" strategy. The strategy will create a Climate Adaptation Roadmap.
