Overview

Founded in 1987, the Center for Risk Management of Engineering Systems develops theory, methodology, and technology to assist in the management of risk in a variety of engineering systems. We deploy solutions to a number of emerging problems. Industry and government sponsors of research at the Center work closely with faculty and students contributing their unique strengths and interests to the Center.The university-wide Center is located in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia.

The mission of UVa’s Center for Risk Management of Engineering Systems (the Center) is to develop theory, methodology, and technology to assist in the management of risk for a variety of engineering systems. Industry and government sponsors of research at the Center contribute their unique strengths and interests. They share their experience and work closely with faculty and students on a broad range of ongoing projects. Center areas of expertise include the following:
