Climate and Environmental Scientist

Dr Chonghua Yin has over ten years experience in data analysis/mining/management, software design and development, resource management, and climate change adaptation and risk assessment. He has two skills that make him distinctive – mixing programming with rapid prototype building.

  • PhD degree in environmental science from the University of Waikato.

  • Master degree of Meteorology from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China.

  • Developed GENIES (Global Environment and National Information Evaluation System), drought assessment Tool, and regional climate scenario generator.

  • Developed a novel statistical downscaling model (SOM-BCSD) and a statistical bias-correction method (BCSD) for AR5 GCM data, which are both widely, used in in climate change risk and adaptation projects.

  • Currently working on design and development of the CLIMsystems Seasonal Climate Forecast Service System (CSCFSS).

CLIMsystems strives to empower individuals, organizations and communities to reduce the risks posed by climatic variability and change, through the provision of software tools and scientific information for better decision-making. It is dedicated to ensuring that its customers receive the highest quality products and support required to successfully use and benefit from its software and services.
