What: In partnership with the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians, the Pala Band of Mission Indians, and the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals, the Climate Science Alliance is excited to co-host the 2022 Southwestern Tribal Climate Change Summit (SWTCCS)

Topic: "Exploring the Fire Within Us"

Dates: May 16-18, 2022

Location: Pala, CA

Description: The 2022 SWTCCS will build upon key takeaways from the 2019 SWTCCS. In 2022, we will once again bring together Tribal leaders, professionals, and community members from across the Southwest to explore the kinship with fire and its role in community, conservation, and climate change adaptation while putting our own unique twist with hands-on activities, networking, and professional training opportunities.

This event will be a three-day gathering, with engaging discussions and activities centered around the kinship with fire and its role in community, conservation, and climate change adaptation. Summit attendees are encouraged to stay at the Pala Casino Spa and Resort located in Pala, CA from May 16-18, 2022. Booking and travel information will be provided upon registration confirmation.

The health, safety, and well-being of everyone involved with the 2022 SWTCCS is of top priority for the planning team. We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and will follow precautions and protocols set by our location host, the Pala Band of Mission Indians, as well as local health authorities and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
