Implementing the Paris Agreement: The Road to Santiago
RNRF is pleased to welcome David Waskow, director of the World Resources Institute (WRI) International Climate Initiative, to discuss implementation developments related to the Paris Agreement.
In 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement was adopted with the goal of combating climate change. The agreement set ambitious goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating a framework for achieving these goals moving forward. The round table will provide an update on where the Paris Agreement stands and present a preview of what will transpire this year.
Waskow is a senior climate diplomacy expert who has worked with WRI's International Climate Initiative since 2013. The Initiative is focused on international cooperation that catalyzes and supports action on climate change at the national level in developed and developing countries. Prior to WRI, he directed climate change policy at the development organization Oxfam America, where much of his work focused on the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities.
Waskow will speak about activities related to the Paris Agreement including an update on the 2018 Conference of Parties (COP24) in Katowice, Poland where progress was made on the Paris Rulebook for measuring and reporting CO2 emissions. Additionally, Waskow will give a preview of what is expected in 2019 at the upcoming UN Climate Action Summit in New York and the COP25 in Santiago, Chile.
We encourage early registration since the venue has limited capacity.
