Climate change has reemerged as a top priority on Capitol Hill — and the conversation has matured from whether to take action to how.

In recent months, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have introduced legislation to address the climate crisis, including two bipartisan carbon pricing bills, a comprehensive clean energy standard and an array of competing proposals. Meanwhile, climate action has joined healthcare and immigration as a leading issue for voters in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

Join World Resources Institute on September 19 for a rich discussion on how to advance policies in the United States that respond to the scale of the climate challenge. New York Times reporter Lisa Friedman will moderate a conversation with Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL), sponsor of the Stemming Warming and Augmenting Pay Act (H.R. 4058), and Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY), Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change.

The conversation will be followed by a panel of energy and climate experts that will examine the best opportunities to drive innovation and make the necessary investments to achieve a net-zero future. Distinguished panelists will explore the potential and limits of carbon pricing to rapidly curb emissions, tax incentives to spur funding for climate-smart infrastructure and transportation and much more.
