Webinar: Real-World Policy Packages for Sustainable Energy Transitions: Shaping Energy Transition Policies to Fit National Objectives and Constraints
Wed, Dec 6, 2017 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM EST
The webinar will present a new IEA insights paper that unpacks the key elements of policy packages for sustainable energy transitions as well as their application in different timeframes. Using the lens of “real-world” policy implementation, an overarching theme of the paper is that there is no single energy transition policy package that fits all countries ̶ national policy objectives and constraints will shape each jurisdiction’s policy mix. The webinar will also present quantitative analysis on the role of moderate carbon pricing in IEA scenarios, taking the challenge of implementing robust carbon pricing as one example of a constraint faced in policy making. Finally, it will highlight how the challenges and opportunities of implementing policy package design have been approached in the national “real world” context of Canada.
