The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) is the state agency responsible for ensuring clean air and water, the safe management of toxics the recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the restoration and preservation of wetlands, surface waters and coastal resources.
CERP Program. Serve as the Director of the Clean Energy Results Program including coordination with DOER and CEC. Provide project support for energy efficiency, clean energy and energy innovation projects. Note that this work at MassDEP has become increasingly integrated into our programs, and available funding from DOER is diminishing over time. Continue to supervise the water facilities energy work, including Gap Grant management oversight.
Climate Resilience Project Coordinator. Directed by statewide goals and EOEEA work on adaptation and resilience. Support and track MassDEP adaptation projects permitted or supported by BWR, BAW and BWSC. Develop materials in coordination with permitting programs to assist in explicitly addressing climate impacts and proactive protective measures in permit terms. Work with State Resilient Mass Action Team to implement the State Hazard Mitigation and Climate Adaptation Plan; maintain current information on MassDEP Action Plan.
