Opportunity Type: Job

For over 20 years, Better World Group Advisors (BWG) has been behind some of the nation’s boldest clean transportation, climate policies, and environmental strategies. We work across all sectors to come up with bold, transformative strategies that address complex problems. Our clients—philanthropies, non-governmental organizations, and local and state government agencies – turn to us for our ability to craft and implement creative strategies, convene diverse stakeholders and build consensus towards equitable and sustainable outcomes.  We are an equal opportunity employer; all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, or any other characteristic protected by law. BWG is a Latina-owned small business located in Downtown Los Angeles, CA. BWG is currently working remotely from home and conducts all meetings via phone or video conference because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This position will start remotely.

BWG seeks a full-time Clean Transportation Campaigns Associate to help project manage multi-faceted and multi-dimensional led coalition campaigns led by racial and worker equity stakeholders in California and in select states throughout the US. The coalition initiatives include work for multiple clients that are advocating for state and federal policies to accelerate the transition to electric trucks, buses and cars. The Associate will participate in and facilitate stakeholder policy and campaign advocacy coalitions; coordinate with campaign communications and state campaign leads; and help research and recruit environmental justice (EJ), labor, business, environmental and local elected leaders to support various state clean transportation advocacy campaigns. There will be a heavy emphasis on building winning coalitions for states to adopt California’s zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate for trucks and for cultivating partnerships with environmental justice organizations in California and throughout the country to prioritize ZEV investments in low-income communities and communities of color. In California, the Associate will support engagement of and partnership with racial equity-led organizations to support ZEV legislation, regulatory proceedings and supporting communications campaigns.

The Associate will gain a variety of skills integral to their ongoing success in the private consulting sector, including analysis of bill and regulatory language, power mapping of legislators, project and campaign management, writing for a variety of audiences, planning and facilitating stakeholder engagements, and developing pragmatic and implementable strategies and recommendations for coalition partners. The Associate will work both independently and as part of a team to demonstrate that a thoughtful and strategic interdisciplinary campaign approach will create equitable, healthy, and sustainable communities.

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year. Compensation includes a generous benefits package, including healthcare and dental insurance, paid time off, etc.
