Climate Impacts Reporter - E&E News

Opportunity Type:
Job

We’re hiring a reporter to cover the government’s response to climate change.

The beat will focus on FEMA, the Army Corps, HUD and other agencies that respond to disasters. The right reporter will examine how these agencies are preparing for climate change, and how they’re not. She or he will investigate government decisions to raise homes, reroute rivers, build public housing and insure against loss in a period of rising temperatures. We’ll focus on agency heads, their conduct, and how politics is shaping these policies. There will be some congressional coverage, too.

The right candidate will laugh at closed doors and be able to cultivate sources quickly inside the federal government.

The beat requires a steady mix of hard-hitting daily stories and enterprising pieces. This is a Climatewire position, but the beat will feed stories to other E&E News publications.
