Communications and Outreach Manager - San Diego Coastkeeper
Established in 1995, San Diego Coastkeeper protects and restores fishable, swimmable, drinkable water for San Diego. The organization uses advocacy, science, education, and community engagement to tackle persistent and emerging water quality and water supply issues across the San Diego region. Current advocacy and outreach priorities of the organization include advancing integrated water management, securing stormwater infrastructure improvements, protecting and restoring the region’s watersheds and coast, promoting water conservation and sustainable use, and furthering environmental justice. To advance these initiatives, Coastkeeper seeks an energetic, organized, and strategically minded individual to fill the position of communications and outreach manager.
The communications and outreach manager designs, plans, produces, and implements San Diego Coastkeeper’s internal and external communications and outreach projects and campaigns, and provides the programs, advocacy, and development teams with communications support. The communications and outreach manager is the organization's primary media contact, and will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with local and regional media outlets. This position also leads writing, production, and editing for a wide variety of communications and marketing tools, and creates and distributes outreach materials to move the needle on outreach goals. Successful applicants will have experience advancing environmental issues through the use of strategic communications and outreach campaigns.
