Deputy Director for Climate Science and Risk Communication, NYC Office of the Mayor
ORR seeks a Deputy Director for Climate Science and Risk Communication to shape and advance integration of climate science into the City’s resiliency projects, working across ORR, City agencies, and the members of the New York City Panel on Climate Change (NPCC), a Mayor-appointed advisory board of climate scientists required by local law to provide updated climate projections every three years.
This newly-formed portfolio presents an exceptional opportunity for a creative individual, steeped in science- informed decision-making, to shape a resilient future for New York City by translating and applying climate science to inform policies, programs, and public engagement that directly impact on-the-ground actions to adapt to climate change. The Deputy Director for Climate Science and Risk Communication will be building a new team, including identifying strategic priorities and developing a staffing plan. This position will be a key member of the ORR’s senior staff, reporting to the Director.
