International Outreach Scientist - Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory (NREL) at Colorado State University
The Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory (NREL) is a research and teaching unit at Colorado State University with a mission “to ensure the sustainability of the Earth’s ecosystems through the generation and application of new knowledge.” The department’s interdisciplinary, ecosystem research promotes collaborations among disciplines and across fields of expertise at CSU and throughout the world. As a soft-money research unit, this role is critical to ensure adequate funding to sustain its vital role in the research community both locally and across the globe.
The NREL is hiring scientist focused on outreach working with developing countries to improve their ability to conduct national assessments of greenhouse gas emissions for agriculture and land use, land use change and forestry. The new hire will work with a team led by Dr. Stephen Ogle to provide guidance on applying greenhouse gas inventory methods and support national reporting to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The position requires
- Ph.D. in forestry, agriculture, ecology, natural resources, environmental sciences or related field,
- two years of work experience after completing a Ph.D. degree, and
- availability for frequent international travel.
Preferred qualifications include experience compiling greenhouse gas inventories for agriculture and forestry, experience as an instructor in a university course, workshop, or similar activity; experience using census data, survey data, remote sensing products, or similar data to conduct analyses; experience conducting statistical analyses; and experience working in a team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
