North Carolina Climate Action Corps, AmeriCorps
Two organizations within the Resilience Service Network (a colloborative network between the AmeriCorps programs) Conserving Carolina (Project Conserve) and Conservation Trust for NC (Resilience Corps NC) are hiring various positions to fill in service to community needs addressing climate issues across North Carolina to serve in the NC Climate Action Corps.
Established as a partnership network between four organizations, Conserving Carolina (AmeriCorps program Project Conserve), Conservation Corps NC, Conservation Trust for NC (AmeriCorps program Resilience Corps NC), and Lead for NC in 2023. The collaboration arose after a data driven research project helmed by Conservation Trust for NC revealed the deep need by local communities for a coordinated response to the climate crisis through national service placements for community outreach and project management. In the fall of 2023, the organizations launched 25 member placements through a grant provided by California Volunteers to establish the NC Climate Action Corps.
The AmeriCorps placements under the NC Climate Action Corps seeks to address our state’s changing climate by expanding community outreach and providing project management opportunities to address climate-related issues to wildfires, flooding, sustainable agriculture, urban heat islands, and tree canopies solutions.
