Postdoc in Nature Based Solutions - University of Georgia

Position Summary: The Department of Anthropology and the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems at the University of Georgia are hiring for a 2 year postdoc position. The individual hired will work as part of a highly interdisciplinary team researching Nature-based solutions in coastal regions. The project is conducted in partnership with the United States Army Corp of Engineers – Engineer Research and Development Center (USACE-ERDC) and approaches NBS as complex adaptive systems. The postdoc will work with the broader team to co-develop and direct research related to social aspects of NBS, including evolving social contracts, social equity, and risks and benefits perceptions.  

Education/Experience: A PhD in a related social science field is required. Experience working on interdisciplinary teams is highly desired.  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Special considerations will be given to candidates with expertise in systems-based research and with methodological expertise that may include qualitative and quantitative data collection/analysis, collaborative modeling, geospatial methods, and field experience.  

Duties and Responsibilities: The postdoc will co-develop and implement ethnographic and survey-based research, coordinate data collection, curation, and analysis. This is primarily a research position with potential duties related to the management of graduate and undergraduate students.
