The Persad Aero-Climate Group is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic early career scientist for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas. The Postdoctoral Researcher will lead development of climate datasets under the new Southeast Texas Urban Integrated Field Lab (SETx-IFL) funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and will have the opportunity to interact with scientists and engineers at multiple Texas universities and at DOE Oak Ridge National Laboratory, as well as with stakeholder groups across Southeast Texas.

The position has an anticipated start date of early January 2023 and is expected to be 2 years in duration. We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong background in the downscaling and bias-correction of global climate model data for local applications. Core goals of the SETx-IFL project include equitable co-development of scientific outcomes with stakeholders and broadened participation of underrepresented faculty and student groups in science and engineering to undertake community engagement in culturally and ethically appropriate ways. We seek applicants who have a demonstrated ability to contribute to this mission. The Postdoctoral Researcher will have access to mentorship, networking, and professional development resources offered through the Jackson School for Geosciences and the University of Texas at Austin.
