Program Manager - People’s Climate Innovation Center
Start date: October 2022
Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
The People’s Climate Innovation Center’s (PCIC) Program Manager is responsible for providing facilitative leadership and project management to local, statewide and national teams/projects that advance approaches to community-driven planning, center racial equity, justice, and whole systems solutions. This position supports the direction of PCIC’s programs and the advancement of the field of practice in innovative ways. This position interfaces with existing and potential partners, supports communications, and implements the overall strategy for PCIC. The PCIC Program Manager will report to the PCIC Director of Programs.
Project Management (55%)
- Manage PCIC existing youth programs, including Young Black Climate Leaders and Young Climate Leaders of Color. This role may support other programs at a high level with thought leadership, coordination and alignment.
- Work with PCIC Director of Programs to develop and support direction and strategy, goals and partnerships for programs
- Manage internal and external communications of projects
- Develop and manage project budgets
- Track progress towards essential deliverables, outcomes, and impact
- Manage consultants and contractors working on various projects
- Provide reporting and documentation for fundraising purposes as needed
- Facilitate team and partner project meetings and workshops
- Work with Collaborative Partnerships Coordinator to manage client relations and cultivate client and partnership development
- Work with Learning and Data manager to develop and implement relevant assessments
Organizational development, strategy, and communications (20%)
- Support alignment, development and implementation of project and organization work plansWork with Communications Manager for input on program branding and communications (website, newsletters, social media, etc)
- Provide strategic thought partnership to the Director of Programs on project directions, pace, and approaches
- Work with Communications Manager for input on program branding and communications (website, newsletters, social media, etc)
- Share stories, content and language with Communications Manager and Learning and Data Manager that amplify grassroots voices and community-driven solutions
- Work with Learning and Data Manager to develop and manage intake systems for existing and prospective partner inquiries
Applied engagements of Community Driven Planning frameworks (20%)
- Lead engagement and support for community-driven planning capacity building and trainings
- Gather and disseminate tools and best practices to support community-driven planning and priority-setting of frontline communities
- Support partners and teams to build capacity and inform strategic planning processes
- Support the Director of Programs in implementing strategy and plans for PCIC programs
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of tools that support government and grassroots leaders re: intersection of climate and transformative power (governance, cultural, racial, economic power)
- Make recommendations to partners (e.g. foundations, investors, government, grassroots organizations, etc.) re: ecosystem mapping/cultivation, and centering equity
- Support the Climate Innovation ecosystem using a variety of strategies, including participation in key local, national and statewide formations facilitating innovation and acceleration toward Just Transition
- Gather and disseminate tools and best practices to support community-driven planning and priority-setting of frontline communities
Qualifications:
- Extensive work experience i in program management, including directing staff and partners on work deliverables, providing supportive direction and corrective guidance as needed, managing budgets and timelines
- Knowledge of community planning, racial justice and equity policy and systems change, restorative economy solutions;
- An orientation towards community power-building and a working knowledge of the climate justice movement ecosystem;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written;
- Ability to switch between detail-intensive data processing and relationship-based interaction with ease;
- Ability to manage and make progress on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Ability to handle diverse challenges with a calm demeanor and positive outlook and be oriented towards excellence in service;
- Computer skills: Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, online payroll platform (Paycom preferred);
- Dedication to social justice; and transformative movement building
