The Habitat Strategic Initiative Lead (Habitat SIL) is announcing a new funding opportunity for programs, activities, and lines of work that advance Puget Sound Habitat Recovery! This funding opportunity for Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2021 and 2022 Puget Sound Geographic Funds is through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP). The Habitat SIL anticipates awarding up to $9,000,000 for proposals ranging from $200,000 to $800,000, for work lasting 2 to 4 years.
Funding from the Habitat Strategic Initiative Lead is focused on investing in habitat recovery work that implements the Floodplains and Estuaries, Land Development and Cover, Marine Vegetation, and Shoreline Armoring Implementation Strategies. These regional Implementation Strategies are designed to help reduce stressors to Puget Sound habitats and achieve ecosystem-focused, desired outcomes from the 2022-2026 Action Agenda for Puget Sound. Investment priorities are also intended to advance habitat recovery through approaches that integrate climate resilience and adaptation, environment justice, and tribal treaty rights.
As a package, Habitat SIL’s five investment priorities (A-E) represent a systems approach and holistic vision for habitat investment in Puget Sound to achieve multiple outcomes for Streams and Floodplains, Forests, and Wetlands, Estuaries, Beaches and Marine Vegetation. The following are Habitat SIL’s Investment Priorities for strategic investment of FFY2021-2022 Puget Sound Geographic Funds.
