Abstract
A strategic plan is essential to guide federal ocean acidification investments and activities over the next decade and beyond. Although many Federal agencies currently conduct ocean acidification research and monitoring, these activities are largely uncoordinated and are not driven by a common vision or purpose. The risk is that agency efforts will be duplicative, or worse, that critical research will not be conducted.
This Strategic Plan presents a clear vision and specific goals to move Federal agencies toward a better understanding of the process of ocean acidification, its effects on marine ecosystems, and the steps that must be taken to minimize harm from ocean acidification.
