Abstract

In 2024, the Biden-Harris Administration released updated Climate Adaptation Plans (CAP) for 28 federal agencies, aiming to integrate climate risk into their missions, operations, and asset management, focusing on building a climate-resilient nation.

The U.S. Federal Agency Climate Adaptation Plans are strategic frameworks to assess climate-related risks and outline actions to enhance resilience. These plans identify vulnerabilities in agency operations, infrastructure, and services while establishing proactive measures to mitigate disruptions caused by climate change.

Developed in response to the increasing impacts of climate change, these adaptation plans ensure that federal agencies can continue to fulfill their missions effectively while safeguarding public resources and services. By integrating climate resilience into their operations, agencies aim to enhance preparedness, protect critical infrastructure, and support communities in adapting to evolving environmental challenges.

These reports describe how each agency is contributing to the objectives and opportunities for actions identified in the Biden-Harris administration’s National Climate Resilience Framework, and build upon each department's 2021 Climate Action Plan providing updates on progress made since 2021.
