Conservation / Restoration
The Mesoamerican Reef is the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. The reef sustains over two million people living in the region, which spans the tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula through Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.
Each State in Mexico is mandated to complete a Climate Change Action Plan. In the State of Campeche, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability is working with the local university's Center of Ecology, Fisheries and Oceanography of the Gulf of Mexico (EPOMEX) to prepare a plan for the region.
