Florida Climate Adaptation Explorer

Overview

The Climate Adaptation Explorer (CAE) provides a starting point from which to address the predicted impacts of climate change on Florida's fish, wildlife, and ecosystems. The CAE provides an easy to navigate format for users to access a broad array of climate change information. Content includes an overview of climate change, impacts of climate change in Florida, impacts on Florida's species, impacts on Florida's ecosystems and habitats, interactions with existing stressors, and vulnerability to climate change. The goal is that this "guide" will provide the tools for better integration of adaptation actions and tasks into broader policies and programs, serving as a toolkit to help natural resource managers and others understand and address current and future impacts of climate change on Florida's ecosystems.

Audience

The Climate Adaptation Explorer is intended to serve as a resource in understanding potential impacts and help in the development of adaptation strategies that could be implemented by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and other natural resource management agencies or groups.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) was established July 1, 1999 through an amendment approved in the 1998 general election, which combined all the staff and Commissioners of the former Marine Fisheries Commission, elements of the Divisions of Marine Resources and Law Enforcement of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and all of the employees and Commissioners of the former Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission. The FWC focuses on habitat management for the protection of wildlife species.

The Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) provides scientific expertise to support the conservation and recovery of biological diversity in its natural state through applied research, education, planning, and community service. We utilize GIS and remote sensing data to conduct assessments and planning in support of conservation projects globally.
